Before you begin
Three things, and nothing more.
A soft tape
A flexible cloth measuring tape. If you only have a metal one, a length of string and a ruler will do.
A shirt that fits
Measure over a well-fitting shirt, never over a jacket or a coat. Trousers you like the sit of.
A steady hand
A few quiet minutes, and someone to help with the back and shoulders if you can.
The measurements
Follow the video, in this order.

Chest
Around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms and level across the back. Keep the tape snug, not tight.

Natural waist
Around the narrowest part of the waist, with a finger of ease left under the tape.

Seat
Around the fullest part of the seat, feet together, tape level all the way round.

Shoulder
Straight across the back, from the edge of one shoulder to the edge of the other.

Sleeve
From the shoulder edge down the outside of the arm to the wrist bone, arm slightly bent.

Jacket length
From the base of the neck down the back to about the knuckle of the thumb.

Trouser waist
Around where you like your trousers to sit, neither high nor low.

Inseam
From the inner thigh down to the top of the shoe, taken from a pair of trousers that fit you well.
For an accurate measure
Small habits that make the numbers true.
Measure over a fitted shirt — never over a jacket, and never over bare skin for the chest.
Keep the tape level and snug. A tape that sags or pulls tight changes the number.
Stand relaxed, weight even on both feet, and breathe normally as you read the tape.
Take each measurement twice. If the two readings differ, take a third and use the middle.
Note whether you measured in inches or centimetres, and keep to one throughout.
When a number looks unusual, send it anyway. We confirm every measurement with you.
If a number is ever off
If it does not fit, we make it again. The first one is yours to keep.
